Writing experience:
I have been writing all my life.  I won my first writing competition, for Bourneville Cocoa, at the age of 9.

I had long-running monthly wine features in two local papers while I ran my own wine shop, and wrote the wine section of a guidebook to Alsace (Alsace, The Complete Guide, by Vivienne Menkes-Ivry; ISBN 0-671-65312-1).

I believe that business, like life, should be fun and no more stressful than necessary.  My business is writing great copy for as wide a variety of clients as possible - to time, to spec -and providing top-quality service with a big smile.  In line with my low-stress philosophy, I offer a no-risk guarantee.

I understand the power of words and use them with care and passion. And I strongly believe that "the bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten": you get what you pay for.

Other experience:

It's been an interesting life so far, and has given me a wide and varied range of experience.

I went to music college thinking I'd become an opera singer but the voice wasn't big enough so I went into stage management instead, working in opera and dance for 7 years.

Two years as an antiquarian bookseller were followed by 6 months as a bicycle courier around London - a great period, but exhausting!

I started in the wine trade at a branch of Oddbins in 1984, and stayed in the business until 2000, first in retail and then training both staff and consumers.

After that I became a guide at Glamis Castle - I can now make a fool of myself in public in four languages!  It was writing the exhibition at the Castle that made me realise one could make a living at this, and I went full-time freelance in October 2009.

I still love singing and appear with three different choirs.  I've been involved in ice-dance since I was 18, and I've just started scuba diving, which I've wanted to do for years.

And if you want to know what I look like... (I'm the one in the jacket)...

This was taken at Lunan Bay, on the Angus coast. For those not familiar with Scotland that's about half-way up the east coast, between Dundee and Aberdeen. Lunan Bay is one of my favourite places: miles of clean sand, fresh water for the dogs, rocks, sand dunes and the chance to watch kite-surfers.  The dog is Finn, one of the 7 rescue greyhounds I've had since 1986.
