"The Great Copy"
International exhibition-contest of mastery of copyist artists

Project Press Release

The creative path of many artists begins with an acquaintance with the works of the Great Masters and the desire to repeat a masterpiece with their own hands. Gaining mastery in an art school, students perform numerous copies of the works of recognized masters and, thus, learn the technique of applying paint, selecting color, creating a unique texture. Sometimes, in the process of copying, new original works of art appear that are worthy of being presented to the general public and taking their place in the interior of houses, a private collection, and a gallery.

The practice of copying works of art has a long history and its own “heroes”. Thanks to copies, we get samples of the art of gone ages. Copying was done by many outstanding artists, it was both a way of learning and raising the level of its professionalism.
In addition, copies are in great demand from buyers and have great success at art fairs.

We invite artists, graphics, sculptors to take part in a new, interesting project and present to the general public their experiments in the field of copies of the work of the Great Masters.
