Exhibition copy:
Stands
If you regularly show at exhibitions and trade shows, you’ll know that you have to get a lot of information to visitors in short order. They wander around, trying not to catch your eye until they’ve seen whether your stand is likely to interest them, trying to discover what you do without actually having to talk to you.
So it’s vital that your stand gives them that information quickly and easily. You need clear branding and a concise message that can be grasped in the glance of a passing eye. Many businesses use pop-up stands with space for just 6-10 words that distil the essence of their offering. Those words are a real challenge to create – and I find them great fun to do.
Handouts
Your handouts need to be reasonably cheap to produce, since you’ll be handing out lots, but they have to look good and be compelling. You’ll have a lot of information to get into a small print area and it has to sell. It’s time-consuming writing them if that’s not your core skill, so why not get someone else to do it for you?
